It seems as though the HIV Justice Network are trying to re-brand themselves. It’s either that or they can’t spell.

What on earth are they doing publicizing the misguided case of David Golding from Northampton being sent to prison for passing on herpes to his girlfriend Cara Scott? You cannot compare the severity of HIV to HSV. The middle letters of each acronym, when combined, tell us there IS a difference.

Experimental Drug for Genital Herpes Shows Promise

It has substantially curbed “viral shedding” in people with genital herpes.

An experimental drugĀ for genital herpesĀ could eventually offer a new treatment option.

In a small study, researchers found that this new drug for genital herpes, called “Pritelivir“, substantially curbed “viral shedding”. That means it decreased the amount of time the virus was active and potentially transmissible to patients’ sexual partners.

The findings, reported in the January 16 issue of the New England Journal of Medicine, are based on 156 patients followed for four weeks. Experts cautioned that the study is preliminary and offers a “proof of concept.”
